RUSTBURG, Va. - The Washington and Lee University equestrian and riding team competed at the University of Lynchburg IHSA event on Sunday.
The Zone 4, Region 2 show included seven other programs at the Lynchburg Equestrian Center on Patrick Henry Family Services Farm.
Elisabeth Marek and
Clare O'Brien led the way for W&L by earning ribbons in both the Open Hunter Seat Equitation events, on the flat and over fences. After a high point ride off, Marek was named reserve high point rider with a second place finish on the flat and the top finish over fences.
NEED TO KNOW
- The Generals Placed third of seven. First through third place were separated by just three points; the home team, Lynchburg, was named high point team with 34 points. Hollins placed second with 33 points and the Blue and White finished third with 31 points.
- The field included Bridgewater College, Hollins University, James Madison University, Roanoke College, the University of Lynchburg, the University of Virginia, and Virginia Tech.
- The Generals placed in the top-5 in 11 of the 15 show classes.

- Clare O'Brien placed second in Section A of the Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat.
- Elisabeth Marek took first in Section B of the Open Flat.

The Generals will continue their fall season at Virginia Tech's Fall IHSA show in Blacksburg, Va. on Saturday, November 4. The show is slated for a 10 a.m. start.
