ASHLAND, Va. -- The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced its 2022 All-State Women's Golf College Division teams on Friday and Washington and Lee garnered two major award winners and placed five on the All-State teams.

Head Coach
Kelsie Carralero earned the Coach of the Year honor, while rising sophomore
Laetitia Roegner (Greenwich, Conn. / IMG Academy) was named the Rookie of the Year and was selected to the first team. Joining Roegner on the All-State First Team was rising senior
Megan Kanaby (Chapel Hill, N.C. / Cardinal Gibbons).

Three Generals were picked to the second team, consisting of recent graduate
Savannah Johnson (Owens Cross Roads, Ala. / Huntsville) and rising sophomores
Marcella Mercer (Bigfork, Montana / Flathead) and
An Shelmire (Dallas, Texas / Highland Park).

Also the ODAC Women's Golf Coach of the Year, Carralero claims the VaSID accolade for the third straight year after she led W&L to its fourth consecutive conference title. The team broke the ODAC's 18-hole scoring record twice during the tournament, carding a +13 score of 301 on the first day, before shooting one stroke better on the third day to finish with a +45 score of 909. The team went on to place 13th at the NCAA Division III Championship with a +92 score of 309-301-322-312—1244.

All told, the Generals won one tournament, finished second in another and placed Top 5 in five tournaments in 2022.

Roegner adds the VaSID Rookie of the Year and First Team All-State accolades to her ODAC Rookie of the Year and First Team All-ODAC honors. She played in 17 rounds this season and posted a 78.71 scoring average, with one Top 5 finish and three Top 10 efforts. Her top finish of the season came at the Generals Cup Invitational, where she tied for fourth with a +7 score of 75-74—149.

Kanaby led W&L on the season with a 75.25 scoring average across 20 rounds played to collect First Team All-ODAC and WGCA All-Southeast Region laurels. She matched Roegner with one Top 5 finish and three Top 10's this season, with her highest finish coming at the ODAC Championship where she tied for second with a +8 score of 75-75-74—224. Kanaby also had a strong showing at the NCAA Championship, as she tied for seventh with a +5 score of 73-73-76-71—293.

Johnson was selected to the All-ODAC Third Team this season, as she posted a 79.30 scoring average across 20 rounds and tied 10th at the ODAC Championship. Johnson totaled a +21 score of 84-78-75—237 at the conference tournament to post her highest individual placing of the season.

A 2022 All-ODAC Second Team pick, Mercer finished the season with 78.79 scoring average across 19 rounds. Mercer finished Top 5 in one tournament and placed Top 10 twice overall, with her highest finish coming at the Generals Cup Invitational where she tied for fourth with a +7 score of 77-72—149. She also tied for eighth place at the ODAC Championship after carding a +19 score of 72-79-84—235.

Shelmire rounds out W&L's All-State selections, adding a second team honor to her All-ODAC First Team citation from earlier this season. Shelmire finished third on the team in scoring average (78.50 in 20 rounds), and she placed Top 10 twice and Top 5 once. She earned a fourth-place finish at the ODAC Championship following her +12 score of 77-76-75—228.
