Kelsie Carralero is in her second season as the head women's golf coach and assistant men's golf coach at Washington and Lee.
In her first season, Carralero was named the ODAC and VaSID College Division Coach of the Year. She guided the Generals to three fourth-place finishes while playing in four of the most difficult events in Division III during the 2019-20 campaign. She helped W&L to the second-lowest season stroke average (319.25) in program history and a No. 18 ranking in the GolfStat Division III Team Rankings and a No. 14 ranking in the WGCA Coaches Poll.
Prior to taking over as head coach, Carralero had spent the previous three seasons as an assistant coach of both the men's and women's golf programs, helping the Generals attain new heights in the sport across her first three seasons. in 2019, she helped both programs to Top 20 rankings via GolfStat, with each team winning a conference title and advancing to the NCAA Division III Championship. The women's program tied for 11th overall, a program-record finish at NCAAs.
During the 2017-18 campaign, she helped the men's team achieve a runner-up finish at the NCAA Division III Championship, while also helping mentor Brian Peccie '18 to the NCAA Individual Title. On the women's side, W&L won the ODAC Championship and participated in the NCAA Championship for the second time in program history.
In her first season, Carralero helped W&L to second-place conference finishes in both men's and women's golf. She also helped mentor five women to all-conference honors, while four men received All-ODAC recognition. Additionally, she helped Liza Freed '18 achieve First Team All-America laurels.
Carralero spent the previous two years at Methodist University as an assistant women’s golf coach. During her time at Methodist, Carralero helped with planning and running practices, recruiting, running qualifying tournaments for 23 players and helped coordinate and run the annual Methodist University Spring Invitational.
Carralero also has experience as a professional golf management intern at multiple locations including, the Suzy Whaley Golf Academy in Cromwell, Conn. While interning, Carralero worked directly with Suzy Whaley as the lead instructor for junior coaching programs, camps and private lessons.
A 2014 graduate of Methodist University, Carralero has a bachelor of science in business administration with a concentration in professional golf management. She was a four-year letterwinner in golf and a four-time NCAA Division III All-American. She was also a member of two NCAA Division III National Championship winning teams and earned the National Division III Kim Moore Spirit Award in 2014. Carralero earned a master of science in business administration from Methodist in 2016. She is a member of the Professional Golfers’ Association of America and the Women’s Golf Coaches Association.
