PALM DESERT, Calif. – The 10th-ranked Washington and Lee women's golf team is tied for fourth at the halfway point of the 2026 NCAA Division III Championship, while first-year
Toral Bhatt remains at the top of the individual leaderboard.

TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL LEADERS THRU ROUND 2:
- No. 1 Emory jumped No. 3 Carnegie Mellon for first place on the team leaderboard, as the Eagles shot 1-over (289) on Wednesday and are 6-over for the tournament. The Tartans slipped to second with a 7-over (295) round to finish 36 holes at 10 over for the tournament.
- The Generals are tied for fourth place with No. 9 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 12-over par for the tournament. W&L shot 8-over (296) on Wednesday, while the Athenas were 3-over in Round 2 after entering the day in fifth place at 9-over.
- Bhatt is in a three-way tie for first place at 3-under par for the tournament after carding an even-par 72 in the second round. Jessica Mason (Trinity [Texas]) shot 1-under on Wednesday, while Jiayi Fu (NYU) surged up the leaderboard with a 4-under 68.
- Following the trio atop the leaderboard is a five-way tie for fourth place just one shot back of Bhatt and company.
W&L ROUND 2 PLAYER SUMMARIES:
- Bhatt sank both birdies in her round in the opening seven holes to go 1-under on the front nine. She then recorded eight pars plus a bogey on the par-3 17th hole to move back to even par for the day.
- Sophomore Berkeley Bundy was the Generals' biggest mover of the day, as she used an even-par (72) to move up nine spots to 25th place. Bundy was even on both the front and back nines, with a birdie on Holes 2 and 18.
- First-year Mackenzie Cline shot one stroke better in Round 2 than in the opening round, and she moved up one place on the leaderboard into a tie for 44th. She carded an even-par 36 on the front nine with one birdie before bogeying three holes on the back nine to finish at 3-over (75) for the day.
- First-year Bella Scucchi shot a 5-over (77) and led the Generals in birdies on the day (3). Scucchi will head into Thursday's third round tied for 30th at 5-over par overall, while senior Julia Haetzel rounded out the lineup with a 15-over par on Wednesday.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The Generals' team score of 296 in Wednesday's second round was tied for their fifth-best team score of the season. The team played both rounds of the NCAA Preview to open the season on the Firecliff course, where they shot 293 in the first round and 303 in the second round.
- The Generals remain among the leaders in par-5 and par-3 scoring so far in the tournament. They are averaging 4.88 strokes per par-5 (3rd) and 3.27 strokes per par-3 (T-4th).
- Through 36 holes of play, the Generals are tied for sixth in birdies (22) and have the second-fewest doubles+ (5).
- Bhatt is currently tied for third in par-4 scoring (3.95 | -1) and tied for seventh in par-5 scoring (4.63 | -3). Scucchi is tied for third-best par-5 average (4.50 | -4), sitting two strokes behind the leader.
