ROME, Ga. – The Washington and Lee men's tennis doubles team of senior
Evan Brady (Glen Head, N.Y. / Chaminade) and sophomore
Evan Erb (St. Louis, Mo. / MICDS) went 2-0 on the second day of the ITA Cup doubles draw on Friday.
Brady and Erb began the day in the consolation bracket, and advanced after a withdrawal from the team of Nolan Shah and John Lasanajak of Emory University. The W&L duo then faced off against Aiden Drover-Mattinen and Andy Zhu of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
The match went to a third set after Brady and Erb won the first, 6-3, but dropped the second, 6-2. In the third, Brady and Erb had to fight off a pair of match points when they were down 8-7 and 9-8. They eventually emerged as the victors over the RPI pair with a 12-10 score in the final set.
Brady and Erb will be back in action with the rest of the W&L men's tennis team when the Generals host Franklin and Marshall on February 11 at 11:00 am.
