MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. — Washington and Lee men's track and field junior
Joe O'Connor (Henrico, Va./Douglas Freeman) broke his own school record in the pole vault on Saturday at the Mount Olive First Chance and Multi Meet.
Highlights From the Meet
- O'Connor finished second in the event, behind only an athlete from the Citadel, with a mark of 4.95m (16'2.75"). It broke his previous record of 4.86m (15'11.25"), which he set at the ODAC Championships on April 30.
- His new school record also is the fifth-best mark in Division III this year, with the top 17 qualifying for the NCAA Championship. The announcement of the qualifiers is next weekend.
