Gamble Breaks W&L 60m Record at Bast-Cregger Invitational

SALEM, Va.  — Sophomore Katelyn Gamble (Houston, Texas/The Kinkaid School) broke the school record in the 60m to lead the Washington and Lee women's track and field team on day two of the Bast-Cregger Invitational on Saturday.

Highlights From the Meet
  • Gamble finished second in the 60m with a time of 7.83. In the semifinals of the event, she crossed the finish line in 7.80, breaking the school record of 7.82 set by Dana Lee '17 in 2016.
  • First-year Madelyn Venable (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) registered two W&L Top 5 marks. She finished fourth in the triple jump at 10.66m (34'11.75"), which was the fourth-best leap in program history. She also claimed fourth in the long jump at 5.11m (16'9.25"), which tied for the fourth-best mark in program history. Gamble took fifth in the event at 5.09m, which is the fifth-best jump in team history.
  • First-year Quinlin Zunk (Moseley, Va./Cosby) recorded the fifth-best throw in team history in the weight throw. She registered a mark of 11.50m (37'8.75").
  • The Blue and White took two of the Top 3 spots in the 3,000m. Senior Avery Schiffman (New Vernon, N.J./The Pingry School) crossed the finish line first in 10:35.44, and junior Parker Hawk (Dallas, Texas/The Hockaday School) was third with a time of 10:51.20.
