Men's Soccer to host NCAA First and Second Round games

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced its 2021 Division III Men's Soccer Tournament field on Monday afternoon, and the Washington and Lee men's soccer team was selected to host first and second round action this weekend.

The Generals will face-off against Baruch in the first round at Watt Field on Friday at 2:00 pm. The other first-round contest that will be played at W&L will be between Denison and Covenant at 5:00 pm.

W&L is 14-1-2 overall this season and earned an at-large bid into the Division III Championship after falling by a 3-2 score in overtime to Randolph in the ODAC semifinals. The Generals will be making their sixth straight appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Bearcats are 7-6-1 overall this season and won the CUNYAC title on Saturday in a shootout against Lehman, after 110 minutes of action yielded a 1-1 draw.

Denison owns a 12-4-2 overall record and received the NCAC's automatic bid after downing No. 14 Kenyon, 1-0, in the conference championship game. Covenant is 11-3-4 overall and earned an automatic bid after claiming the USA South championship on penalty kicks over N.C. Wesleyan.

The Generals and the Bearcats will be facing each other for the first time ever. The Big Red and the Scots have also never faced each other prior to this weekend's matchup.

Live stats and live video will be provided for all three games at Watt Field. The winners of Friday's games will advance to the second round and play on Saturday at W&L at 4:30 pm.
