FOREST, Va. – The Old Dominion Athletic Conference has announced that Washington and Lee senior outfielder
Ryan Monson (Frisco, Texas/Wakeland) has been selected as the 2020 recipient of the ODAC Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award.
An economics and geology double-major, Monson becomes the fifth player in program history to be named the ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and he is the first player since Tom Concklin '17 in 2016 to receive the honor.
Monson batted .308 in the 14-game abbreviated season on 16 hits in 52 at-bats. He logged a .439 on-base percentage and he ranked second on the team in stolen bases (7-of-8) and third in runs scored (15).
As a junior, Monson claimed Third Team All-ODAC laurels and he was named a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection. Monson finished his career ranked seventh in program history in career at-bats (482) and walks (64), while starting 125-of-127 games. He also tallied 143 hits, 84 runs, 82 RBI and a .297 batting average over his four-year career.
The Generals went 10-4 overall, before the remainder of the season was canceled, and posted a 3-2 record in ODAC play.
