LEXINGTON, Va. – The 17th-ranked Washington and Lee men's lacrosse team saw 14 different players find the goal in a 19-2 victory over Shenandoah on Saturday at Wilson Field.

The Generals (13-4, 10-0) scored seven goals in the first quarter and cruised to their ninth straight win and 21st consecutive ODAC regular season victory.

Junior midfielder Jack Hodgson (Richmond, Va. / St. Christopher's) controlled the game at the Faceoff X, winning 16-of-18 draws to set a new program record for career faceoff wins (720).  The former mark (719) had been held by Tommy Melanson since 2003.

First-year attackman Garrett Mize (Dallas, Texas / St. Mark's) scored two goals in the opening quarter, while senior attackman A.J. Witherell (Wilmington, Del. / Salesianum) posted one goal and one assist.  Witherell added one goal and one assist in the second quarter, as W&L's lead grew to 10-0 at the half.

Three separate players each scored in the third period and the Generals carried a 13-0 lead into the fourth quarter, when the reserves added six more scores.  The Hornets (7-9, 3-7) got on the board with 5:51 remaining in the game, scoring two goals in a span of 40 seconds.

W&L held advantages of 58-22 in shots, 51-28 in ground balls and 20-5 in faceoffs. 

Witherell led by way with two goals and three assists.  He moved to within two goals of breaking Matt Dugan's '01 career goals record (182) and he also moved into second place on the ODAC's career scoring list with 303 career points (181G/122A).

Mize, senior attackman Robert Cooleen (Princeton, N.J. / Lawrenceville School), sophomore midfielder Stuart Greenspon (Aldie, Va. / Episcopal) and first-year midfielder Jack Cooney (West Chester, Ohio / Lakota East) all scored two goals apiece.  Junior midfielder Hudson Hamill (Darien, Conn. / Darien) added one goal and two helpers.

All four goalies on the roster played in the game for W&L.  Sophomore Jack Taylor (Baltimore, Md. / Saint Paul's) played the opening 30 minutes, earning the win after totaling six saves without a goal allowed.

Senior attackman Ryan Schott and senior midfielder Orlando Levins scored the two goals for Shenandoah.  A pair of goalies played for the Hornets, led by junior Jason Simpson, who posted 13 saves (13 GA) in 45 minutes of action.

Washington and Lee has now earned the top seed for the ODAC Tournament which begins on Tuesday.  The Generals will receive a quarterfinal bye and will host the semifinals and finals on May 3-4.
