Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – The No. 22 Washington and Lee women's tennis team secured a 9-0 victory over ODAC foe Emory & Henry on Wednesday afternoon.
The win is the fifth in a row for the Generals, as the team improved to 12-5 overall and 11-0 in the ODAC with the win. The Wasps fell to 11-5 overall and 4-5 in conference play with the loss.
First-years Taylor Garcia (Mandeville, La./Mount Carmel Academy) and Georgia Wright (Austin, Texas/Regents School of Austin) did not lose a single game on the day, pairing for an 8-0 win in No. 1 doubles over Katie Meade and Kaitlyn Sheaves, before Garcia defeated Meade and Wright downed Sheaves, 6-0, 6-0, each in No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively.
Seniors Mary Hampton McNeal (Beaufort, S.C./South Carolina Connections Academy) and Melinda Kauffman (Fuquay Varina, N.C./North Raleigh Christian Academy) also chipped in 6-0, 6-0 singles wins, as McNeal defeated Logan Graham in No. 4 singles and Kauffman topped Cailie Pallard in No. 6 singles.
The Generals will travel to Bridgewater for their next match, a 3:00 pm contest on Friday.
