GREENVILLE, Pa. – Senior attackman Cam Lewis (Chapel Hill, N.C./Durham Academy) scored a school-record tying eight goals to lead the 15th-ranked Washington and Lee men's lacrosse team to an 11-5 win over ninth-ranked Denison on Saturday at Thiel College.

Lewis got things started just 19 seconds into the game when he scored unassisted.  It was part of a five-goal run to start the game for W&L (1-1) in the initial 18:40 of the contest.  He followed the game's opening score with two more goals as the Generals led 3-0 at the 5:14 mark of the first half.  Sophomore midfielder Joe Perrella (Larkspur, Calif./Redwood) scored off a feed from senior midfielder Garrett Paglia (Forest Hill, Md./Gilman) with 16 seconds left in the first quarter for a 4-0 lead.  Lewis then finished the 5-0 run with an unassisted tally at the 11:20 mark of the second quarter.

Denison (0-1) got on the board when sophomore midfielder Jamie McCahan scored with 9:16 left in the half.  Neither team could find the net for the remainder of the period and the Generals carried a 5-1 lead into the intermission.

Denison junior midfielder Blair Farinholt scored unassisted at the 12:55 mark of the third quarter to pull the Big Red within three goals (5-2), but Lewis scored in transition off an assist from junior midfielder Andrew Riehl (Reisterstown, Md./St. Paul's) to make it 6-2 at the 11:32 mark.

Denison scored three of the game's next five goals to pull within 8-5 with 13:11 remaining in the game, but Lewis posted three more unassisted scores in the final 6:54 to finish things off.
