Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's lacrosse
team snapped a two-game losing streak, producing a season-best for
goals scored in a 21-2 win over Randolph College on Saturday
afternoon at WildCat Stadium.
The Generals (6-6, 2-2) jumped out to a 2-0 lead as first-year
attackman Cameron
Dabir (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich./Culver Academy) fed junior
attackman Mac Means
(Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) for a pair of goals in the
opening 7:45 of the game.
Randolph (3-8, 0-4) got on the board at the 6:07 mark of the
opening period when junior midfielder Jon O'Hara found the net
unassisted. The Generals then closed the first quarter with
five straight goals, including a goal and an assist each by Dabir
and first-year attackman Tyler
Goldman (Port Washington, N.Y./Loomis Chaffee), for a 7-1 lead
after the first 15 minutes of play.
W&L added five more tallies by five different players in the
second quarter for a 12-1 lead at halftime. The Generals then
saw six different players score goals in the third quarter for an
18-1 lead following 45 minutes of play in cruising to the win.
Washington and Lee held advantages of 54-12 in shots, 64-40 in
ground balls and 18-9 in faceoffs. The Generals were led by
Means, who totaled five goals and two assists. Dabir posted
two goals and four helpers, while first-year midfielder Garrett
Paglia (Forest Hill, Md./Gilman) notched three goals.
Goldman registered two goals and two assists, and senior attackman
Scott
Meehan (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Manlius-Pebble Hill) had two
goals. First-year Warren
Berenis (Ocoee, Fla./Lake Highland Prep) started and played the
opening 30 minutes in goal, recording one save with one goal
allowed. Sophomore Dylan Florig
(Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) played the third quarter without
facing a shot and sophomore Patrick
Jennings (Reisterstown, Md./Boys' Latin) was in goal for the
final 15 minutes, allowing one goal with no saves.
O'Hara led the WildCats with two goals, while senior goalkeeper
Kevin McCracken played all 60 minutes in goal, making 17 saves.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts
13th-ranked Roanoke for a 7:00 pm contest.
