W&L Men's Lax Defeats Randolph, 13-4

LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee scored 13 goals from 10 different players in posting a 13-4 victory over Randolph College in ODAC men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field.

The Generals (7-5, 4-0) received goals from senior attackman Spence Daw (Phoenix, Md./Loyola-Blakefield), junior midfielder Luke Walter (Queenstown, Md./St. Andrew's School), sophomore attackman Mac Means (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) and sophomore midfielder Cooper Brown (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) in the opening 5:46 of the game to jump out to a 4-0 lead. 

The WildCats (1-8, 0-3) received a tally from first-year attackman Bobby Crosby (Bethel, Conn./Bethel) with 7:07 left in the first period, but W&L went on another four-goal run for an 8-1 lead with 11:10 left in the second quarter en route to a 9-2 lead at the break.

Three-straight goals in the third period, including a pair by Daw, pushed the W&L lead out to 12-2 entering the fourth period as the Generals remained undefeated in conference play.

For the game, W&L held a 52-13 advantage in shots and a 43-29 edge in ground balls.  The Generals also won 15-of-21 faceoffs on the day. 

Individually for W&L, Daw led the way with three goals and one assist, while junior attackman Sam Mott (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Pointe South) totaled two goals.  Sophomore attackman Jack Switala (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) notched two assists and Brown logged one goal and one assist.  The Generals used four goalkeepers and they combined to make four saves.

Sophomore midfielder Stephen Allman (Goodview, Va./Roanoke Catholic) paced Randolph with one goal and one assist.  Junior Kevin McCracken (Annandale, Va./Annandale) played a majority of the time in goal and recorded 10 saves.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Salem, Va., to take on ninth-ranked Roanoke College at 7:00 pm.
