Box Score SALEM, Va. – Top-seeded and sixth-ranked Roanoke College
jumped out to a 10-1 lead and never looked back in claiming a 15-7
victory over fourth-seeded and 18th-ranked Washington and Lee in
the semifinals of the ODAC Men's Lacrosse Tournament on Sunday
afternoon at Kerr Stadium.
The Maroons (15-2) set the tone just nine seconds into the game
as senior attackman Matt Quinton scored off an assist from senior
attackman Ashton Hotchkiss just moments after the opening
faceoff. Roanoke added four more goals, including two
additional tallies from Quinton, for a 5-0 lead just 8:53 into the
game.
Senior attackman Will Keigler (Timonium, Md./Gilman) got the
Generals on the board when he scored off a feed from senior
midfielder Chris Washington (Flint, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood) at
the 3:30 mark of the first quarter, but the Maroons scored
five more unanswered goals, including two more from Quinton, for a
10-1 lead with 2:25 left in the first half.
The Generals (11-6) outscored the Maroons by a score of 4-2 in
the third quarter to close within 13-6 entering the fourth period,
but could get no closer as Roanoke advanced with the eight-goal
win.
First-year attackman Mac Means (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley
Academy) led W&L with two goals, while first-year midfielder
Cooper Brown (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) tallied one goal and one
assist. Keigler finished with one goal to conclude his career
as the program's sixth all-time leading scorer with 212 points (102
G, 110 A). Senior Matt Mason (Gladwyne, Pa./St. Mark's)
played all 60 minutes in goal and stopped 13 shots.
Quinton paced Roanoke with seven goals, while sophomore
attackman Jeff Keating totaled three goals and four assists.
First-year attackman Richard Lachlan chipped in two goals and one
helper. Senior jake Dorsey played all but 45 seconds in goal
and notched 11 saves.
Washington and Lee's season is now concluded, while Roanoke
advances to the ODAC Championship game where it will host
second-seeded Lynchburg College.
