Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. – The 13th-ranked Washington and Lee
men's lacrosse team received goals from 14 different players
in posting a 17-2 victory over Guilford in ODAC action on Saturday
afternoon at the Armfield Athletic Center.
Senior attackman Will Keigler (Timonium, Md./Gilman) scored a
pair of goals and junior attackman Spence Daw (Phoenix,
Md./Loyola-Blakefield) totaled one goal and one assist as the
Generals (9-3, 3-1 ODAC) raced out to a 6-0 lead after one quarter.
Sophomore attackman Chris Sisk got the Quakers (1-10, 0-3 ODAC)
on the board just 1:39 into the second quarter when he scored
man-up off an assist from junior midfielder Ken Keesee, but W&L
scored the game's next five goals to assume a commanding 11-1
advantage with 2:31 left in the third quarter.
Following another Guilford goal at the 2:09 mark of the third
quarter, W&L scored the game's final six goals, including
a pair from junior attackman Drew Mancini (Hillsborough,
Calif./Deerfield Academy) and one goal and one assist from
first-year midfielder John Rehberger (Vienna, Va./Flint Hill), to
complete the Generals' 23rd-consecutive win over the Quakers.
W&L held advantages of 45-13 in shots, 44-22 in ground balls
and 16-7 in faceoffs. Keigler paced the offense with two
goals and one assist, while senior midfielder Max Mancuso
(Northport, N.Y./Northport) and Mancini each found the net
twice. Rehberger finished with two assists, while senior
midfielder Kevin Feeney (Summit, N.J./Summit) and Daw both chipped
in one goal and one assist. Senior defenseman Tyler Smith
(Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's) led the defense with four ground
balls and three caused turnovers and four players found themselves
in goal for W&L, led by senior Matt Mason (Gladwyne, Pa./St.
Mark's), who played the first two quarters and notched four
saves (1 GA).
Sisk and sophomore attackman Daniel Dowd each scored for
Guilford, while junior Mark Guillen played all 60 minutes in goal
and recorded 13 saves.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday as it hosts
eighth-ranked Roanoke for a 7:00 pm contest.
