Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – Senior attackman Will Keigler (Timonium,
Md./Gilman) notched a career-high eight points on two goals and six
assists, but it was not enough as the 17th-ranked Washington and
Lee men's lacrosse team fell to 12th-ranked Lynchburg
College, 13-10, on Saturday evening at Shellenberger Field.
The Generals (10-5, 4-3) opened the scoring just 1:09 into the
game as senior midfielder Logan Bartlett (Summit, N.J./Pingry
School) scored off a feed from Keigler. However, the Hornets
responded with six-straight goals, including a pair by first-year
attackman Pat Ohrem, for a 6-1 lead with 7:38 left in the second
quarter.
W&L retaliated with a pair of man-up goals by Bartlett off
Keigler feeds to slice it to a 6-3 game with 13:14 left in the
third period, but LC used two-straight tallies to push back to an
8-3 lead with 8:45 left in the penultimate quarter.
The Hornets surged to an 11-5 advantage with 10:23 left in the
game, but W&L ripped off four consecutive goals, including a
pair by Keigler, to cut it to an 11-9 game with 4:21
remaining. However, Ohrem found rope again with 2:45 left for
a 12-9 lead and the two teams traded goals in the final 43 seconds
for the final margin.
Keigler's performance paced the Generals' offense,
while Bartlett tied a career-high with four goals. Junior
attackman Spence Daw (Phoenix, Md./Loyola-Blakefield) and junior
midfielder Drew Koeneman (St. Louis, Mo./MICDS) each totaled one
goal and one assist. Senior Matt Mason (Gladwyne, Pa./St.
Mark's) played all 60 minutes in goal and recorded seven
saves.
Ohrem paced LC with three goals and three assists, while
sophomore attackman Dylan Hoff notched four goals and one
helper. Sophomore midfielder Ben Sauer chipped in two goals
and two assists, while sophomore Franc Cook played all 60 minutes
between the pipes and notched 10 saves.
