Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – The 11th-ranked Washington and Lee
men's lacrosse team recovered from a 2-1 halftime deficit to
post an 8-6 victory over Randolph-Macon in ODAC men's
lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon in Ashland, Va.
The Generals (8-2, 2-0 ODAC) trailed 1-0 until 2:57 remained in
the first half when first-year attackman Jack Switala (Lloyd
Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) scored unassisted. However,
the Yellow Jackets (3-4, 1-1 ODAC) responded just 45 seconds later
on an unassisted goal by sophomore attackman Tyler Midwinter for a
2-1 lead that they carried into the break.
W&L evened the score at 2-2 with 9:26 left in the third
period when senior midfielder Chris Washington (Flint,
Mich./Cranbrook-Kingswood) scored unassisted. Senior
midfielder Kevin Feeney (Summit, N.J./Summit) won the ensuing
faceoff and found rope just 20 seconds later to give the Generals
their first lead of the game at 3-2. Senior attackman Will
Keigler (Timonium, Md./Gilman) kept the run going with an
unassisted goal at 4:16 and senior midfielder Logan Barlett
(Summit, N.J./Pingry School) made it 5-2 with a goal off an assist
from junior attackman Spence Daw (Phoenix, Md./Loyola-Blakefield)
at 3:55. Feeney then won another faceoff and scored just 11
seconds later to make it 6-2 and cap W&L's five-goal run.
R-MC sophomore attackman Jake Leddy stopped the bleeding with a
goal off an assist from Midwinter just 10 seconds into the fourth
period, but Daw and senior midfielder Max Macuso (Northport,
N.Y./Northport) each scored unassisted to give W&L an 8-3
advantage with 9:18 left in the game.
Macon made things interesting by scoring three goals, including
man-up tallies by Midwinter and Leddy, in the final 7:07, but the
Generals ran out the final 1:40 to post their 13th-straight win
over the Yellow Jackets.
Feeney led the Generals by scoring two goals and winning
10-of-13 faceoffs on the day. Daw scored one goal and
assisted on another, while senior Matt Mason (Gladwyne, Pa./St.
Mark's) played all 60 minutes in goal and recorded 11 saves.
Leddy and Midwinter paced the Yellow Jackets with two goals and
one assist each, while Billy Rowe had one goal and one
helper. Junior Adam Liberto played the duration in net and
posted 10 saves.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday as it hosts
Hampden-Sydney for a 7:00 pm contest.
