Box Score

SALEM, Va. - Washington and Lee senior midfielder Harry St. John (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) scored unassisted just 38 seconds into overtime to lift the 10th-ranked and third-seeded Generals to a 15-14 overtime victory over top-ranked and No. 1 seed Roanoke College in the finals of the ODAC men's lacrosse championship on Sunday afternoon at Kerr Stadium.

For Washington and Lee, it is the first ODAC Championship since 2004 and the program's ninth conference championship overall.

The Generals (15-3) held a 14-11 lead with just over three minutes to play in regulation when the Maroons (17-1) made a run to tie it at 14-14. Pat March started the run when he scored off a Trey Keeley feed with 3:08 left in regulation. Zach Thomas scored unassisted at 2:47 and Jeff Keating scored man-up off an assist from Thomas with 1:58 left to knot the score at 14-14.

Roanoke won the ensuing faceoff and appeared to win the game with 17 seconds remaining on a Joseph Coretti goal, but Coretti was ruled to be in the crease and the Generals ran out the clock to force the extra session. W&L won the faceoff to begin overtime and St. John produced the game-winner in the fifth-straight contest between the two teams that has been determined by one goal.

Roanoke jumped out to a 4-1 first quarter lead and held the advantage until the Generals produced a five-goal run in the second quarter to assume an 8-5 lead with 3:53 left in the first half. Senior attackman Seth Fishman (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Haverford) scored a pair of goals during the run, while St. John also found the net twice.

Washington and Lee held the lead throughout the second stanza until the Maroons run to close regulation that forced the second overtime game between the teams this season. Roanoke won the regular-season battle, 14-13, in overtime.

St. John led the Generals with four goals and two assists, while Fishman had four goals. Junior attackman Will Keigler (Timonium, Md./Gilman) totaled three goals and three assists and senior goalkeeper Connor Locke (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) played the duration in goal and notched 14 saves.
