W&L Volleyball Breaks Program's Wins Record with 3-0 Victory over Cumberlands

MARYVILLE, Tenn. –- The Washington and Lee volleyball team set a new program record for consecutive victories in a 30-16, 30-21, 30-14 win over University of Cumberlands on Saturday at the Maryville Tournament. The Generals have now extended their winning streak to 22-straight matches, besting the previous record of 21-straight wins set during the 2005 season.

In the win over Cumberlands (6-24), the Blue and White were paced by senior right side Jess Hudock's (Tampa, Fla./Holy Names) nine kills, six digs, and four service aces, while sophomore outside hitter Rachael Phillips (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep) tallied 16 kills. Junior right side Laura Maurer (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII) amassed eight kills and five digs, while freshman middle hitter Louise Brooks (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) chipped in five kills and three blocks. Sophomore setter Kristi Stevens (Overland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission So.) added 22 assists and 12 digs.

The Generals regular season has now ended with a 26-5 overall record. The Blue and White will compete next weekend in the ODAC tournament at Hollins University.
