September 8, 2025

  • Senior Sarah Zimmerman (Women's Soccer - Off. Player of the Week) - Zimmerman led the offense for No. 13 W&L last week with a goal and an assist for a 2-0 record on the week. She first scored the only goal in the game in a 1-0 victory at Franklin & Marshall on Saturday afternoon, before she assisted Amelia Manke on W&L's first goal in a 2-1 win at home over No. 5 Johns Hopkins. Through four games, Zimmerman is tied for the team lead in goals (2), assists (1) and points (5) with classmate Helen Otteni.
     
  • Sophomore Kate McEnroe (Women's Soccer - Def. Player of the Week) - McEnroe picked up the win in goal in both games for No. 13 W&L last week, totaling 11 saves on 12 shots on goal. She earned her first collegiate shutout behind four saves in the Generals' 1-0 win at Franklin & Marshall on Saturday afternoon, before she made seven stops in a 2-1 victory against No. 5 Johns Hopkins on Sunday. All seven of McEnroe's saves against the Blue Jays came in the second half. 
     
  • Junior Grace Mitchener (Volleyball - Offensive Player of the Week) - Mitchener picked up her second-straight ODAC Offensive Player of the Week award after leading the ninth-ranked Generals to three wins at the W&L Invitational. She recorded 43 kills on 117 attempts for a .316 hitting percentage while registering double-digit kills in each match to earn a pair of sweeps over Mary Washington and St. Mary's and a 3-1 win over Southern Virginia. She also added five service aces and 34 digs during the weekend.
     
  • Senior Julia McDonald (Field Hockey - Defensive Player of the Week) - Goalkeeper Julia McDonald (Guilford, Conn.) anchored Generals Field Hockey in a strong defensive showing that included a 2-1 home-opening win over Denison and a narrow 1-0 setback to No. 6 Christopher Newport. McDonald tallied one save against the Big Red before turning in a career-best 18 stops against CNU, tying the fourth-highest single-game mark in program history.

  • Junior Grace Mitchener (Volleyball - Offensive Player of the Week) - Mitchener earned the first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season after leading the ninth-ranked Generals to four wins on opening weekend. She registered 57 kills with just nine errors on 129 attempts for an impressive .372 hitting percentage. Mitchener recorded 10 or more kills in each match, highlighted by 17 in a sweep of Asbury and 16 in a sweep of Centre. She also notched a career-high five service aces against Wilmington and totaled 41 digs across the weekend.
