HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- The 15th-ranked Hampden-Sydney men's lacrosse team scored four second quarter goals en route to a 10-5 win over 10th-ranked Washington and Lee in the ODAC regular season finale for both teams on Saturday afternoon in Hampden-Sydney, Va.
The game was knotted at 2-2 early in the second period, before the Tigers (8-4, 4-2) struck with two goals by Ryan Harrington and two more tallies by Vince Smith for a 6-2 haltime advantage. Following the break, Hampden-Sydney scored man-up with 8:37 remaining in the third period for a 7-2 lead and, following a tally by W&L senior attackman Jack Murray (Earlysville, Va./Albemarle) just 13 seconds later, the Tigers would go on a three-goal run for a 10-3 lead in posting the victory.
W&L (9-4, 4-2) was led by Murray, who scored two goals, and senior attackman Gavin Molinelli (Northport, N.Y./Northport), who added one goal and one assist. Sophomore Chris Lalli (Cranbury, N.J./Princeton) posted eight saves in goal.
Smith and Michael Via posted two goals and two assists each for the Tigers, while Harrington notched three goals. Jeremy Bull played a majority of the minutes in goal, recording six saves.
Washington and Lee will be the second seed for the ODAC Tournament and will host third-seeded Lynchburg on Tuesday afternoon. The game time has yet to be determined.
