ASHLAND, Va. -- Fifteenth-ranked Washington and Lee placed 10 different players in the scoring column in defeating Randolph-Macon, 15-1, in ODAC men's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon in Ashland, Va.
The Generals (6-3, 2-0) struck quickly with a goal from senior attackman Matt Fink (Wilmington, Del./Tatnall) 1:44 into the contest and steadily built their lead to 13-0 with 10:50 remaining in the game. Fink led all scorers with three goals, while junior attackman Gavin Molinelli (Northport, N.Y./Northport) scored one goal and amassed a game-high five assists.
Senior midfielder Dustin Martin (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) scored two goals and dished out two assists, while senior midfielder Mark McLewee (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) and junior attacker Jack Murray (Earlysville, Va./Albemarle) each notched two goals in the victory. Senior Ansel Sanders (White Stone, Va./Woodberry Forest) logged 48:20 in the W&L net with seven saves to secure the win, while junior Pat Casey (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) and freshman Chris Lalli (Cranbury, N.J./Princeton) combined for 11:40 in goal and three saves.
Senior midfielder Joe Fleury scored the lone goal for Randolph-Macon (4-4, 1-1) off an assist by sophomore midfielder Brandan Toone with 8:57 remaining in the game. Freshman Brian Vierheller and sophomore James Schiefer combined for 23 saves in the Yellow Jackets' goal.
The Generals return to action on Sat., Apr. 10 when they host Roanoke. Game time is 1:30 p.m.
