Offensive Woes Continue in a 5-3 Loss to F&M

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Fourteenth-ranked Franklin & Marshall scored the first five goals of the game to outpace 15th-ranked Washington and Lee, 5-3, in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon.

Trailing 5-0 with 4:09 remaining in the third quarter, the Generals (2-3) began their comeback bid as junior attackman Gavin Molinelli (Northport, N.Y./Northport) scored an extra-man goal off an assist by junior attackman Jack Murray (Earlysville, Va./Albemarle).

Battling through a series of injuries, W&L was unable to find the net again until 2:03 left in the game when Molinelli assisted on an extra-man goal by senior midfielder Dustin Martin (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius). The combination proved fruitful a second time as Martin scored off an assist by Molinelli at 1:53 for the Generals' third extra-man goal of the contest.

The comeback bid fell short, however, as the visitors were unable to beat the F&M goalie again before time expired.
Senior Ansel Sanders (White Stone, Va./Woodberry Forest) made 10 saves for W&L, while Mike Sartorius and Will McIntire combined for 15 saves in the Diplomats goal.

The Generals return to action on Wednesday when they host Colorado College. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
