LEXINGTON, Va. -- Savannah College of Art & Design scored four runs in the ninth inning to extend a 4-3 lead into an 8-3 victory over Washington and Lee in baseball action on Saturday afternoon at Smith Field.

The Bees (22-18) scored a pair of runs in the top half of the first inning to claim a 2-0 lead, however, the Generals responded with a pair of runs to tie the score at 2-2 after one inning.

The Bees regained the lead at 3-2 as senior centerfielder Jorge Garcia (Princeton, Fla./Homestead) scored an unearned run in the sixth inning. The Bees reclaimed a one-run lead (4-3) with a run in the seventh inning, before plating the four runs in the ninth to provide the final scoring margin.

Junior Harold Jones (Miami, Fla./Miami Corel Park) earned the win and improved to 5-3 this season as he fired a complete-game, allowing three runs, one earned, on nine hits. He struck out six and walked just one. Sophomore Dan Kagey (Marietta, Ga./Lovett) took the loss and slipped to 4-6 on the season. He pitched 8 1/3 innings, allowing six runs, five earned, on 10 hits. Kagey walked four and struck out six.

Offensively, W&L was paced by junior shortstop Michael Hanson (Atlanta, Ga./Pace Academy), sophomore rightfielder Bryan Mulhern (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville) and senior third baseman Matt Kozora (Ellicott City, Md./Glenelg) who each registered two hits. Mulhern added an RBI, while junior first baseman Brian Gladysz (Palm Harbor, Fla./Berkeley Prep) also chipped in an RBI.

SCAD was paced by senior first baseman Ryan Fickle (Cameron Park, Calif./El Dorado) who went 3-for-5, while four other Bees recorded two hits apiece, including Garcia, who also drove in two runs.
