Generals Shut Out Dickinson, 23-0

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Senior attackman Chris Brown (Towson, Md./Towson) tallied a career-high nine points on six goals and three assists to help lead fifth-ranked Washington and Lee to a 23-0 win over Dickinson on Wednesday afternoon.

The Generals (4-1) outshot the Red Devils (0-3) 78-7 in producing their first shutout since a 23-0 win over Shenandoah during the 1993 season.

Brown got W&L off to an early start by notching four first quarter goals, two off assists from junior midfielder Bernie Norton (Timonium, Md./Calvert Hall). Norton also collected a pair of goals during the opening period to give W&L a 6-0 lead heading into the second quarter.

The lead swelled to 14-0 at the half as Brown and Norton kept the pressure on. Norton notched a goal and an assist in the second quarter, while Brown tallied one assist. W&L would rest its regulars in the second half in producing the 23-goal win.

Senior attackman Andrew Jones (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) and junior attackman Matt Dugan (Rockaway, N.J./Mountain Lakes) each totaled three goals. Dugan also added an assist in the contest.

Junior Wes Hays (Towson, Md./Loyola), senior Dan Grattan (Vienna, Va./Marshall), and freshman Brandon Ross (Harwood, Md./St. Albans) combined in goal to produce the shutout. Each made two saves.

Sophomore James Rankin (Southport, Conn./Middlesex) stopped 20 shots in 56 minutes of action in goal for the Red Devils.

Washington and Lee will be in action again on Saturday as it travels to Franklin & Marshall for a 2:00 pm contest.
