Dugan Leads Generals Past Marlins, 15-5

NORFOLK, Va. -- Sophomore attackman Matt Dugan (Rockaway, N.J/  Mountain Lakes) set career-highs in goals (7) and total points (11) in a game, leading the second-ranked Washington and Lee men's lacrosse team (10-1, 4-0 ODAC) to a 15-5 win at 15th-ranked Virginia Wesleyan (7-4, 3-3 ODAC) on Sunday afternoon.  The victory was the ninth consecutive for the  Generals.

W&L jumped out to a 5-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 10-0 lead with 1:54 left in the second quarter, cruising to an 11-1 halftime lead and the 10-goal victory.  VWC did not score until 1:09 remained in the first half.

The Generals were led in scoring by Dugan.  His seven goals tie him for the second best goal-scoring performance in W&L history.  It also moves him into a sixth place tie for goals scored in a W&L season (47).  Junior attackman Colin Dougherty (Timonium, Md./ Loyola) also had a big day with four goals and two assists, while junior attackman Chris Brown (Towson, Md./ Towson) chipped in with three goals and an assist. 

Sophomore goalkeeper Wes Hays (Towson, Md./ Loyola) made nine saves in 53 minutes, while junior Dan Grattan (Vienna, Va./ George C.  Marshall) made two saves.
