LEXINGTON, Va. -- Nine different Washington and Lee players scored goals to help lead the third-ranked Generals to a 23-1 victory over Guilford in ODAC men's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon at Wilson Field. The win was the 100th in the career of W&L head coach Jim Stagnitta (100-38). He is now just nine wins from becoming the winningest coach in the history of W&L men's lacrosse.
Guilford got on the scoreboard first as junior midfielder Dusty Ollerhead (Towson, Md./Towson) scored off an assist from sophomore midfielder Jason Gauthier (Kernersville, N.C./Skaneateles) with 9:34 remaining in the first quarter to make the score 1-0 in favor of the Quakers (5-5, 0-3).
However, W&L (7-1, 3-0) would hold Guilford scoreless for the remainder of the game in walking away with its sixth-straight win.
Sophomore attackman Matt Dugan (Rockaway, N.J./Mountain Lakes) and junior attackman Chris Brown (Towson, Md./Towson) led the Generals with four goals each. Junior attackman Colin Dougherty (Timonium, Md./Loyola) collected three goals and two assists.
