LEXINGTON, Va. -- Third-ranked Washington and Lee scored three goals in the opening 1:32 of the game and led 5-0 with 3:41 remaining in the first quarter in cruising to an 18-2 win over Franklin & Marshall in men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field.
Seven different Generals (4-1) scored in the game led by sophomore attackman Matt Dugan (Rockaway, N.J./Mountain Lakes), who tallied five goals and two assists. He was followed by sophomore midfielder Pope Hackney (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's), who totaled four goals and a pair of assists. Junior attackman Chris Brown (Towson, Md./Towson) had three goals and two assists and junior attackman Colin Dougherty (Timonium, Md./Loyola) amassed two goals and two assists.Â
Franklin & Marshall's goals were scored by sophomore midfielder Kevin Milota (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mill) and freshman attackman Bryan Kobel (Franklin Lakes, N.J./Don Bosco).
Sophomore goalie Bob Michel (Baltimore, Md./Friends) made 15 saves in goal for the Diplomats (2-3), while sophomore Wes Hays (Towson, Md./Loyola) and junior Dan Grattan (Vienna, Va./Marshall) combined for eight saves in goal for the Generals.
