LEXINGTON, Va. -- Sophomore midfielder Matt Dugan (Rockaway, N.J./Mountain Lakes) continued his early season offensive assault with four goals and three assists to help lead third-ranked Washington and Lee to a 24-2 win over Dickinson on Wednesday afternoon at Wilson Field.
With the game tied at 1-1 with 10:01 remaining in the opening quarter, the Generals scored 13 consecutive goals over the next 14:23 to take a 13-1 lead with 10:38 remaining in the opening half. After a Dickinson goal with 8:31 remaining in the half made the score 14-2, W&L (3-1) scored the final 10 goals in coasting to the 22-goal win.
Junior attackman Chris Brown (Towson, Md./Towson) tallied five goals and one assist, while senior midfielder Steve Birdsall (Baltimore, Md./Loyola), sophomore midfielder Pope Hackney (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's), and junior midfielder Greg Meyers (Riverside, Conn./Greenwich) each scored three goals for the Generals.
Junior midfielder Lou Sodano (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) totaled one goal and one assist to lead Dickinson (1-3).
