PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Senior pitcher Bob Weston (Columbia, S.C./ Woodberry Forest) pitched a three-hit shutout on Saturday afternoon to propel the Washington and Lee baseball team (2-2) to a 1-0 victory over Hendrix College in the semifinals of the Rawlings College Baseball Tournament in Pheonix. The Generals will face Rhodes College in the championship game on Saturday night.
Weston's performance comes on the heels of his no-hitter on Thursday afternoon, the first at W&L since 1980. On Saturday, Weston struck out three batters and walked only two, allowing only three batters to reach base.
The winning run scored in the fourth inning when junior center fielder Chris Stakem (Oklahoma City, Okla./ Casady) doubled and was brought home when senior catcher E.J. Murphy (Glenside, Pa./ Chestnut Hill Academy) reached first base on an error by Hendrix first baseman Jackie Glover.
