5/15/2026 8:56:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Keaton Rush and Macky Gartley of the Washington and Lee University men's track and field team earned bids to the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field National Championship, the NCAA announced on Friday night.

The Generals will be represented at the outdoor national meet for the fourth-straight season while having two athletes competing for the second consecutive season.

Rush is making his second-straight appearance at the outdoor meet after qualifying in the 10,000m last season. He earned bids in the 5,000m and 10,000m, marking his second-straight appearance at the outdoor championship. This also marks the third time in program history that a General will compete in the 10,000m, while Rush becomes just the second student-athlete in program history to compete in the 5,000m, joining Jason Callen, who competed in the event in 1997. Rush ranks 12th in the 10k heading into the national meet with a time of 29:36.78, while his time of 14:07.83 ranks 19th in the 5,000m.

Gartley is making his second appearance at the national meet after earning a bid in the indoor season in the 60m hurdles. Gartley ran the 12th-fastest time in the field this season on Monday at the Widener Final Qualifier, clocking a time of 14.14s. He becomes the second student-athlete in program history to earn a bid in the 110m hurdles, joining Andrew White, who ran in the event in 1988.

Rush will kick off the national championship on Thursday, May 21, at 8:15 p.m. in the 10,000m before Gartley runs in the prelims of the 110m hurdles at 4:25 p.m. on Friday. The 5,000m is slated for 4:25 p.m. on Saturday, with the 110m hurdles finals set for 2:00 p.m.
