4/8/2026 11:00:00 AM

IRVING, Texas - Twelve members of the Washington and Lee University football team were named to the 20th National Football Foundation's (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society on Wednesday afternoon.

The 2026 class includes a record 2,596 players from 365 colleges and universities. Since 2007, the program has recognized 23,568 student-athletes from 691 schools, demonstrating sustained academic performance across the game. This season marks the 20th anniversary of the program while being the largest group of honorees in its history.

Nominated by their respective schools, members of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society must be either senior players who will graduate this spring/summer and have just completed their final year of playing eligibility in 2025, or graduated players who have been out of high school for at least three years. Additionally, student-athletes must have maintained at least an undergraduate cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 and been starters or significant contributors throughout the 2025 season.

The Generals are one of three Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) institutions to appear on the list, along with Hampden-Sydney (5) and Shenandoah (1) while leading the league with 12 honorees. The Blue and White have had 24 representatives on the list since 2007. In total, Division III had 876 honorees from 11 schools.

W&L's Honorees The Generals registered their 10th-straight winning season as they posted a 7-4 overall record with a 6-2 mark in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play. W&L played in their third Chesapeake Challenge, a bowl series between the ODAC and Landmark, while hoisting their second consecutive trophy as they defeated Lycoming 14-12 in the Cape Charles Bowl.
