Evans Resets Program Record on First Day of Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The 25th-ranked Washington and Lee University women's track and field team saw five updates to their program record lists while Jesma Evans reset the program record in the 400m on the first day of the Colonial Relays at William & Mary.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • Jesma Evans highlighted the first day of action as she reset her own program record in the 400m to finish in second place, clocking a personal-best time of 56.38s. Her time currently ranks 10th in Division III this season. Lucy Buchmayr posted the third-fastest time in program history in the 100m hurdles, clocking a time of 15.19s to move past Marrisa Thompson's mark of 15.16s, which was set in 2003.
  • Olivia Warr was the lone General in the invited 5,000m this evening. Warr set a new personal best as she crossed the finish line in a time of 16:56.91, the second-fastest time in program history. Her time moved her past Carolyn Todd's time of 17:15.47, which was set in 2023.
  • The Blue and White had three student-athletes finish within the top 10 in the 3,000m steeplechase, highlighted by a fourth-place finish from Reese Brown. Brown clocked the second-fastest time in program history as she crossed the finish line in a personal-best time of 11:17.22, moving past Becca Taylor's mark of 11:22.19, which was set in 2009. Brianna Breyault finished in sixth place with a season-best time of 11:27.30, while Eve Spencer finished in 10th place with a time of 11:57.50.
  • In the 1,500m open, Amelia Weenig paced the trio with a time of 4:50.82 to finish in fourth place. Julie Anne Bush finished in seventh place with a personal-best time of 4:54.48, while Mary Gorsky clocked a season-best time of 4:58.52. Cassie Carr represented the Generals in the invited 1,500m, finishing in sixth place with a time of 4:39.08.
  • Bella Timmerding turned in an eighth-place finish in the hammer throw, recording a mark of 40.67m (133'-05.00"). Mad McMurphy and Layla Keadle both turned in top-10 finishes in the pole vault, each recording marks of 3.42m (11'-02.50"). McMurphy finished in a tie for sixth place with Bucknell's Kate Harnish, while Keadle finished in eighth place.

  • The Generals are back in action tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m. with the long jump. The 4x100m relay will kick off the events on the track at 11:30 a.m.
