Men’s Track & Field Records Seven Top Ten Finishes on Day One of Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Washington and Lee University men's track and field team posted seven top ten finishes on the first day of the Colonial Relays at William & Mary on Friday.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • David Akinnubi highlighted the first day of action as he tied the third-best mark in program history in the high jump. Akinnubi cleared a personal-best height of 1.94m (6'-04.25") to finish in third place. Thomas Franklin posted a top-five finish in the 5,000m, clocking a personal-best time of 14:52.87.
  • Macky Gartley was the top finisher for the Blue and White in the 400m hurdles, registering a time of 54.37s to finish in sixth place. Andrew Carroll turned in a seventh-place finish in the 1,500m, crossing the finish line in a time of 3:58.43.
  • Mason Mandis was the lone representative in the long jump, finishing in 10th place after leaping 6.57m (21'-06.50").
  • Colin Verrett and Wyatt Benjamin capped off the night in the 10,000m, finishing back-to-back in eighth and ninth place. Verrett clocked a time of 32:01.23, while Benjamin posted a personal-best time of 32:09.40.

  • The triple jump will kick off the final day of action at 11 a.m. with the 110m hurdles invite kicking off the events on the track at 11:45 a.m.
