Men’s Track & Field Wraps up Weekend Double Feature

HARRISONBURG, Va. / LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Washington and Lee University men's track and field team split up on Saturday with members competing at the James Madison University Invite and the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • Macky Gartley highlighted the Generals on Saturday with a first place finish in the 400m hurdles, crossing the finish line in a time of 53.52s. His time moved him up to No. 2 all-time, moving past George Marable's mark of 53.64s which was set in 2025. Danny Jakubowski-Lewis finished in sixth place in the event with a personal best time of 56.14s. 
  • Troy Spillman recorded the other first place finish for the Generals, claiming gold in the pole vault with a mark of 3.50m (11'-05.75")
  • John Hogan clocked in a personal best time in the 1,500m, crossing the finish line in a time of 4:07.45 to finish in fourth place. Hall Wildman paced a trio of Generals in the 3,000m steeplechase, finishing in second place with a time of 10:09.43. Teddy Meredith finished in fourth place in the event with a time of 10:24.88 while Kaden Rife finished in sixth place after crossing the finish line in a time of 10:33.26.
  • The Generals had three student-athletes finish in the top-eight in the javelin with George Mann leading the charge with a third place finish after recording a season-best toss of 57.95m (190'-01.00"). Brandon Makowski and Troy Spillman finished back-to-back in sixth and seventh place in the javelin. Makowski recorded a mark of 47.85m; (157'-00.00") while Spillman registered a personal best mark of 46.67m (153'-01.00").
  • Leo Avigliano finished in eighth place in the discus this afternoon, registering a mark of 42.60m (139'-09.00"). Mason Mandis turned in a seventh place finish in the long jump, recording a mark of 6.50m (21'-04.00"). Fidel Small rounded out the group at JMU, finishing in sixth place in the triple jump with a mark of 13.23m (43'-05.00"). 
  • Keaton Rush highlighted the day for the Blue and White at the Bison Outdoor Classic as he reset his own program and ODAC records in the 10,000m. Rush finished in second place with a time of 29:36.78, which ranks ninth in Division III this season.

  • The Generals are back in action on April 17-18 as they will compete at the New Captains Classic at Christopher Newport University while members of the team will compete at the Virginia Challenge at the University of Virginia on Friday the 17th.
