LEXINGTON, Va. — Washington and Lee first-year Macky Gartley and senior Keaton Rush headlined the Generals' postseason honors as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its men's indoor track and field all-conference awards following the 2026 ODAC Indoor Championships.
Gartley was named the ODAC Rookie of the Year, while Rush collected the league's ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor. In addition, sophomore sprinter Mark Freeman represented Washington and Lee on the ODAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
The conference awards came after a strong championship performance from the Generals, who finished second in the team standings with 120.5 points. Washington and Lee produced three individual champions and 27 top-eight finishes across the two-day meet.
Gartley turned in one of the top performances of the championship, winning the 60-meter hurdles in a school-record, ODAC all-time record and meet-record time of 8.04 seconds. His effort currently ranks No. 8 in Division III and stands as the top mark by a first-year competitor in Division III this season. He also helped the Generals place second in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:21.75, a time that broke the previous championship record, and added a fifth-place finish in the 200 meters in a personal-best 22.83. Gartley was also selected as the ODAC Track Athlete of the Week on February 24 and is a W&L Scholar-Athlete for the fall term.
Rush earned the conference's ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year award after another standout season for the Generals, adding to his postseason recognition with Third Team All-ODAC honors in the 5,000 meters after placing third in 14:45.02. A senior from Devon, Pa., Rush is a double major in Accounting and Economics and is now a two-time ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for track and field to bring his total to four including back-to-back cross country awards in the falls 2024 and 2025. One of the league's top distance runners, he has earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors in both indoor and outdoor track and set the ODAC 10,000-meter record last spring with a time of 29:37.51. He is also a CSC Academic All-District honoree, a multiple-time W&L Scholar-Athlete, serves as a Group Head for the Williams Investment Society and was the Treasurer of the Executive Committee in 2024-25
Mark Freeman's inclusion on the All-Sportsmanship Team added another point of distinction for the Generals. A sophomore, he competes primarily in the sprint events and posted a personal-best 7.04 in the 60-meter dash at the ODAC Championships, tying for the third-fastest time in program history.
Washington and Lee placed 10 All-ODAC selections across nine entries, led by three first-team honors.
