Women’s Track & Field Records Four Top-Ten Updates at Doc Jopson Invite

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Washington and Lee University women's track & field team made four updates to the program's top ten list on the final day of the Doc Jopson Invite. 

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • Annabelle Sutliff highlighted the second day of action with a pair of top-10 updates in the 200m and 400m. Sutliff clocked a personal-best time of 59.46s, the fifth-fastest time in program history, in the 400m to finish in fourth place before posting the ninth-best time in W&L history in the 200m with a time of 26.33s. Ana Hodneland joined Sutliff in the 400m, finishing in seventh place with a time of 1:02.00.
  • Bailey Hedgemon turned in a first-place finish in the hammer throw for the second straight meet after recording a toss of 51.27m (169'-02.25"). Bella Timmerding posted the fourth-best mark in program history with a personal-best toss of 41.25m (135'-04.00") to finish in sixth place. Emma Marvelli posted the eighth-best mark in program history in the event with a toss of 38.75m (127'-01.50").
  • Five Generals turned in top finishes in the 1,500m, with Kate Odell leading the way with a second-place finish, clocking a time of 5:01.72. Maddy Morgan followed in third with a time of 5:02.80, while MacKenzie Moore clocked a personal-best time of 5:03.63 to finish in fifth. Audrey Robinson and Lane Smith finished back-to-back in seventh and eighth place, clocking times of 5:07.79 and 5:12.93, respectively.
  • Lilly Versen and Kaia Beddows both finished in the top eight in the 100m dash. Versen finished in second place after clocking a time of 12.63s in the finals, while Beddows crossed the finish line in 13.05s to finish in seventh place.
  • Sofia Petrucelli finished in first place in the 800m after clocking a time of 2:23.42, while Mary Gorsky (2:26.68) finished in fourth and Olivia Lovan (2:31.90) finished in sixth with a personal-best time. Joanne Lee was the lone General in the 400m hurdles, finishing in fifth place with a time of 1:13.71.
  • Olivia D'Ambrosia, Simmons Lee, Ana Hodneland, and Lilly Versen teamed up in the 4x100m relay, finishing in fourth place with a time of 50.32s. Sofia Petrucelli, Sally King, Lucy Buchmayr, and Kate Odell turned in a first-place finish in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:14.60.
  • Emily Jackson and Katie Wood both competed in the shot put this afternoon, with both finishing in the top eight. Jackson paced the duo with a fourth-place finish after recording a toss of 11.46m (37'-07.00"), while Wood finished in seventh place with a mark of 10.98m (36'-00.25").
  • Mackenzie Morante rounded out the Generals in action in the long jump, finishing in sixth place with a season-best mark of 4.69m (15'-04.50").

  • The Generals will head to Williamsburg, Va. next weekend for the Colonial Relays on April 2nd-4th at William & Mary College.
