Men’s Track & Field Wraps Up Doc Jopson Invite

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Washington and Lee University men's track and field team recorded 13 top-eight finishes on the final day of the Doc Jopson Invite on Saturday.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • The Generals had four student-athletes finish in the top eight in the 800m this afternoon. Andrew Carroll paced the quartet with a second-place finish, crossing the line in 1:56.49, while Davis Amare finished right behind him in third with a personal-best time of 1:57.61. John Hogan and William Fitch finished back-to-back in fifth and sixth place. Hogan clocked a time of 1:59.11, while Fitch posted a time of 2:01.76.
  • Kaden Rife clocked a personal best in the 1,500m as he crossed the finish line in 4:14.52 to finish in fifth place. John Daniels turned in a fifth-place finish in the 110m hurdles, posting a time of 16.14s. Danny Jakubowski-Lewis posted a time of 54.09s to finish in eighth place in the 400m.
  • Connor LaCour, Mason Mandis, Mark Freeman, and Ethan De Fonsseka teamed up in the 4x100m relay, clocking a time of 43.87s to finish in fourth place. In the 4x400m relay, Andrew Carroll, Davis Amare, John Hogan, and William Fitch turned in a fourth-place finish after crossing the line in a time of 3:37.55.
  • Mason Mandis was the lone General in the long jump, finishing in fourth place after leaping 6.43m (21'-01.00"). Three Generals turned in top-eight finishes in the shot put, with O'Keefe McKinney leading the way with a fourth-place finish after recording a season-best toss of 13.45m (44'-01.50"). Maddox Noll finished right behind him in fifth place with a mark of 13.09m (42'-11.25"), while Ezekiel Mullins recorded a mark of 12.42m (40'-08.75") to finish in eighth place.
PERSONAL / SEASON BESTS TOP EIGHT FINISHERS UP NEXT
  • The Generals will head to Williamsburg, Va. next weekend for the Colonial Relays on April 2nd-4th at William & Mary College.
