W&L Men's Swimming Sweeps Senior Meet Over Randolph-Macon and Chowan

LEXINGTON, Va. — The Washington and Lee University men's swimming team closed out Senior Day with a pair of convincing head-to-head victories on Saturday afternoon at the W&L Senior Meet, defeating Randolph-Macon College, 184–77, and Chowan University, 202–40. Randolph-Macon also earned a 178–71 win over Chowan in the three-team meet.

The Generals claimed wins in 12 of the 14 events on Saturday afternoon, highlighted by multiple individual victories from seniors Dalton Jobe and Harrison Cerone, along with a sweep of both relays. 


Prior to the first whistle, Washington and Lee Swimming honored its senior class at the W&L Natatorium, celebrating a group that helped lead a successful four-year stretch in program history. From 2022–23 through the current season, the seniors contributed to three consecutive ODAC team championships for each program, a combined 44-15 record and undefeated in ODAC duals. The group of 22 seniors have collectively participated in 31 NCAA Championship events and recorded 11 program records, leaving a lasting impact on the Generals' success in and out of the pool.

The men's and women's swimming seniors include Clara Attar, Meagan Baxley, Margaret Beimdiek, Charles Byars, Patrick Carr, Harrison Cerone, Thomas Denton, Aidan Dold, Dani Hackman, Jackson Hall, Dalton Jobe, Maria Jellig, Amelia Macholz, Isabella Malchow, Paige McBoyle, Patrick Murphy, Rhodes Pharr, Dylan Reher, Schuyler Ross, Jake Shaud, Morgan Smith, and Caleb Yau.




Up Next: Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 24, traveling across Main Street to face Virginia Military Institute at the VMI Aquatic Center in Lexington, Virginia, with the meet scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

Notable Performances

  • Dalton Jobe notched a pair of individual victories in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle while anchoring both winning relays.
  • Harrison Cerone swept the breaststroke events, winning the 100 (57.72) and 200 (2:11.23), and swam the breaststroke leg on the winning medley relay.
  • Zane Ross captured the 200 individual medley (1:59.09) and added runner-up finishes in the 200 butterfly and 200 freestyle relay.
  • Thomas Denton won the 200 backstroke and placed third in the 200 butterfly in addition to swimming the butterfly leg on the winning medley relay.
