McDonough, LaCour Post Top-Five Marks at VMI Team Challenge

LEXINGTON, Va. - First-years DJ McDonough and Connor LaCour of the Washington and Lee University men's track & field team etched their names into the program's record books on Saturday at the VMI Team Challenge.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • DJ McDonough posted the second-fastest time in the 400m this afternoon, clocking a 49.47 to finish second. Connor LaCour also etched his name into the program's top-five list, recording the fourth-fastest time in program history in the 200m at 22.59s to finish ninth.
  • Andrew Carroll, William Fitch, and Davis Amare kicked off the action in the mile run. Carroll and Fitch finished back-to-back in first and second place, with Carroll crossing the line in 4:21.75 and Fitch posting a personal-best time of 4:23.41. Amare added a fifth-place finish after clocking a 4:31.57.
  • The Generals had three student-athletes reach the finals of the 60m hurdles. Macky Gartley led the trio with a second-place finish, posting a time of 8.21s. Danny Jakubowski-Lewis finished fifth in 8.92s, while Luke Heinze placed eighth with a time of 11.20s.
  • Wyatt Benjamin and Ethan Khouri competed in the 3,000m, finishing third and fourth, respectively. Benjamin clocked a time of 9:10.22, while Khouri crossed the finish line in 9:11.11.
  • In the shot put, Maddox Noll and Ezekiel Mullins both earned top-eight finishes. Noll placed seventh with a toss of 12.64m (41'-05.75"), while Mullins followed in eighth at 12.32m (40'-05.00").
  • Lukas Michael paced the pole vault group with a fourth-place finish after clearing 3.65m (11'-11.75"), while Troy Spillman finished just behind him in fifth after clearing 3.50m (11'-05.75").
  • Ford Hunter was the lone General in the high jump and earned a third-place finish after clearing 1.80m (5'-10.75"). Mason Mandis placed eighth in the long jump with a mark of 6.42m (21'-00.75"). Austin Halterman rounded out the top-eight finishers in the weight throw, posting a mark of 12.41m (40'-07.50") to finish seventh.
