WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The No. 21 Washington and Lee University men's wrestling posted a 1–2 record on the opening day of the Budd Whitehill Duals, hosted by Lycoming College, competing in three tightly contested duals against York (5-3), Milwaukee School of Engineering (5-4), and Springfield (7-0). Despite narrow setbacks in two rounds, the Generals secured a critical win over MSOE to finish second in Group B, advancing to the 5–8 placement bracket for Saturday's final day of competition thanks to an advantage in total team points.
Across the day, W&L (5-2) recorded multiple bonus-point performances and received undefeated efforts from Skyler Hickman (3–0), Liam Flanagan (3–0), Noah Danforth (3–0), and Carter Stack (3–0).

Up Next: Washington and Lee advances to the 5–8 placement bracket on Saturday after the tie break (total team points). At 10:30 a.m., the Generals will face Stevens on Mat 4, while Ithaca and Messiah meet on Mat 3. The winners will advance to the fifth-place dual, with the remaining teams competing in the seventh-place dual at 1:30 p.m.
Round 1 — York (Pa.) 26, W&L 24
The Generals opened the tournament in a back-and-forth dual that came down to the final bout. W&L picked up three bonus-point wins, including falls from Skyler Hickman and Noah Danforth, but York (Pa.) capitalized on key bonus-point swings to escape with the two-point victory.
