LEXINGTON, Va. — The Washington and Lee University field hockey team rallied from an early deficit to secure a 2–1 victory over Denison on Friday evening at the W&L Turf Field. Washington and Lee (1–1) answered a first-quarter strike by Denison (0–3) with two third-quarter goals to claim its first win of the season.
Denison struck first just five minutes into the contest when Nina Casingal converted a penalty stroke at 5:08 to give the Big Red a 1–0 lead. After a scoreless second quarter, the Generals stormed back in the third.
Sydney Baggett scored the equalizer unassisted at 31:38, cleaning up a loose ball in front of the cage. Less than five minutes later,
Betty Boatwright delivered the game-winner at 36:20 redirecting a
Zoe Dolfis shot towards goal.

Julia McDonald anchored the Generals' defense with one save as W&L outshot Denison 29–3 and held a 9–0 advantage in penalty corners.
