Jackson Resets Shot Put Record at Hill City Twilight

LYNCHBURG, Va. - First-year Emily Jackson of the Washington and Lee University women's track and field team reset the program's shot put record on Friday at the Hill City Twilight at the University of Lynchburg.

Jackson broke her own program record which she set at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships last weekend on Friday evening. She recorded a new personal best toss of 11.95m (39'-02.25") to finish in fourth place overall. Additionally, Jackson turned in a sixth place finish in the discus after recording a toss of 35.90m (117'-09.25") which also ranks sixth in program history. Her mark surpassed Rachel Urban's mark of 112'-00.00" which was set in 2010.

Bailey Hedgemon picked up another hammer throw win this evening after recording a toss of 48.61m (159'-05.75"). Ashley D'Ambrosia and Layla Keadle both competed in the pole vault this evening, turning in top finishes. D'Ambrosia cleared a height of 3.65m (11'-11.75") to secure a first place finish  while Keadle soared over a height of 3.50m (11'-05.75") to finish right behind D'Ambrosia in second place.

The Generals are back in action on Tuesday, May 2 as select individuals will compete at the Liberty University Twilight in Lynchburg.
