GREENWOOD, Ind. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Men's Tennis Team was announced on Tuesday, and Washington and Lee had four players recognized.
Seniors
Evan Erb,
Will Kistler and
James Kurani, along with sophomore
Sanjheev Rao all earned Academic All-District distinction. This marks the third citation each for the trio of seniors and the first for Rao.
Erb, an accounting major, holds a 14-6 overall singles record this season, including a mark of 11-3 at the No. 1 position, and 2-2 against nationally ranked opponents. He also went 13-9 across all doubles matches this season. For his career, Erb is 63-27 in singles play and 67-29 in doubles, a two-time ODAC Player of the Year, two-time NCAA singles championship qualifier and was a 2023-24 All-American after a quarterfinal finish at the ITA Cup. He has also claimed three ITA Scholar Athlete and ODAC All-Academic Team selections each with six W&L Scholar Athlete nods, as well.
Kistler, a three-time ITA Scholar Athlete and six-time W&L Scholar Athlete as a business administration major, compiled an 11-11 singles record this season plus 12-9 in doubles action. Kistler and Erb played a majority of their doubles matches together this season going 12-6 as a tandem. Kistler also produced 52 doubles wins and 38 singles wins throughout his career, was the 2021-22 ODAC Rookie of the Year and has earned four all-conference citations.
Also a business administration major, Kurani ended his collegiate tennis career on a high note with 25 total wins across his singles and doubles matches, broken up by 12 wins in singles and 13 in doubles. Also a three-time ITA Scholar Athlete and a seven-time W&L Scholar Athlete, Kurani went 6-3 at No. 3 singles this season and 8-6 at No. 2 doubles to finish with career records of 42-36 in singles and 47-35 in doubles. Kurani is also a four-time all-conference pick which includes three as a singles player and two First Team singles citations.
Rao wraps up W&L's 2025 CSC awardees after going 12-8 in singles this season, including 8-2 at the No. 6 position, plus a 6-6 doubles record. Already a three-time W&L Scholar Athlete and a 2023-24 ITA Scholar Athlete as a chemistry major, Rao has produced a 29-16 career singles record and 17-8 doubles record through two seasons. After his rookie campaign, Rao was named First Team All-ODAC at both No. 4 singles and No. 3 doubles.
The W&L men's tennis team completed its 2024-25 season with an overall record of 16-7 and a 9-0 mark in ODAC play. While the team play portion of the season is over for the Generals, Erb qualified for the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Tournament for the second time in three years and will play in the first round on Friday, May 23.
