LEXINGTON, Va. – The 20th-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team posted its fifth shutout of an ODAC opponent on Tuesday in a 4-0 victory over Randolph.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Generals (13-6) cruised to the doubles point with a pair of 6-2 wins at the top two positions. Seniors
Evan Erb and
Will Kistler played at No. 1, with senior
James Kurani and sophomore
Heys Parker at No. 2. Sophomore
Sanjheev Rao and first-year
Ryan Good occupied No. 3 and were tied at four games all against Vincenzo Marchese and Ondra Pelda when W&L clinched the point.
Three straight-set wins highlighted singles play for the Generals to close out the match. Erb locked up the second team point with a 6-1, 6-4 win against Andreas Mulner at No. 1, before Kistler won both of his sets, 6-3, at No. 2. Kurani ended the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3 against Marchese.
First-year
Sahil Arora was also in control of his match at No. 4 when the final team point was clinched, as he led Carlos Haupt 6-0, 5-4.
