WINCHESTER, Va. – The No. 20 Washington and Lee men's tennis team walked away with a 6-1 win at Shenandoah on Saturday afternoon in their final road contest of the regular season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Generals (11-6, 7-0 ODAC) opened strongly by winning all three doubles matches for the 1-0 lead. Senior
Eli Hirshberg and sophomore
Heys Parker blanked Aryanth Chintharlapalli and Shine Tokas at No. 2, while seniors
Evan Erb and
Will Kistler earned a 6-1 win at No. 1. Senior
James Kurani and first-year
Ryan Good defeated Artem Babaiev and Jovan Cirkovic, 6-4, at No. 3.
Hirshberg, Parker, Kistler and sophomore
Sanjheev Rao highlighted singles play with straight-set wins. Hirshberg had the most convincing win, as he dropped only three games at No. 4, while Parker won both of his sets, 6-2, at No. 5. Kistler dispatched Shine Tokas, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 2 and Rao upended Keith Orr at No. 6 with 6-3 wins in both sets.
Kurani pulled out a 6-1, 6-7 (5), 1-0 (5) win over Cirkovic at No. 3 to round out the W&L winners. The Hornets (7-5, 5-2 ODAC) got their lone team point of the day at No. 1, after Erb was forced to retire after dropping the first set against Dominick Suwak, 6-4.
NOTEWORTHY POINTS:
With a singles and doubles win on Saturday, Hirshberg now sits just two wins short of reaching 100 combined wins for his career.

The Generals' final three matches of the regular season will all be at home, starting with Averett on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Prior to first serves, W&L's four-player senior class of Erb, Hirshberg, Kistler and Kurani will be recognized as part of Senior Day.
