Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

No. 23 Men's Tennis opens ODAC Tournament with 4-0 win against Lynchburg

LEXINGTON, Va. – The 23rd-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team began its ODAC Tournament run on Wednesday afternoon with a 4-0 win against eighth-seeded Lynchburg.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Generals (15-6) picked up the doubles point with wins at No. 3 then No. 2, with seniors Evan Erb and Will Kistler also leading by a 5-4 score at No. 1. Sophomore Sanjheev Rao and first-year Ryan Good secured a 6-3 win at No. 3, before senior James Kurani and sophomore Heys Parker finished up a 6-4 win at No. 2.
 
W&L then won its next three points in convincing fashion, as Rao (6), first-year Sahil Arora (4) and Parker (5) each won in straight sets to clinch the match. Rao did not drop a single game against Jorge Patricio Zepeda, Arora was a 6-0, 6-4 victor over Alex Rintoul and Parker surrendered only three games against Timothee DePaquit.
 
In the three singles matches that went unfinished, two were within a game of finishing with another in the early stages of the second set. Erb and Kistler both led their opponents by a set and a 5-1 score in the second at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, while Kurani was tied in the second set, 1-1, against Sebastian Sierra at No. 3 after he took the first set, 7-5.
 
UP NEXT:
The Generals will return to the courts on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the ODAC semifinals against the winner of the Shenandoah/Virginia Wesleyan quarterfinal.
