Men’s Track and Field Secures Three Wins at Hopkins/Loyola Invite

BALTIMORE, Md. - The Washington and Lee University men's track and field team secured three wins at the Hopkins/Loyola Invite on Saturday in Baltimore, Md.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • The Generals secured three wins on Saturday, with Ryan McKenna highlighting the group in the 400m hurdles. McKenna moved up one spot to No. 3 all-time in the program record books after clocking a personal-best time of 54.27s—the 32nd-fastest time in Division III. Evan Novak secured a win in the hammer throw after recording a mark of 42.64m (139'-10.00").
  • Brandon Makowski earned a top finish in the javelin with a mark of 50.44m (165'-06.00"). Stevan Bajski competed alongside Makowski in the javelin, finishing fifth with a toss of 47.36m (155'-04.00").
  • Danny Jakubowski-Lewis and Wilson Kasischke competed with McKenna in the 400m hurdles, finishing in second and fourth place, respectively. Jakubowski-Lewis clocked a season-best time of 56.00s, while Kasischke posted a time of 57.34s.
  • William Dunaway recorded a time of 15:18.82 to place third in the 5,000m, while Robert Cooper crossed the finish line in a personal-best time of 3:57.56 to finish sixth in the 1,500m.
  • George Marable was the top finisher for the Generals in the 110m hurdles, clocking a time of 15.50s to place third. Luke Avigliano paced the 400m crew with a fourth-place finish in 50.26s.
  • Patrick Haynes posted a season-best mark of 13.30m (43'-07.75") to finish fifth in the triple jump. Leo Avigliano and Will Knight both earned top-five finishes in the discus. Avigliano led the duo with a third-place finish, recording a mark of 43.42m (142'-05.00"), while Knight posted a mark of 40.49m (132'-10.00") to place fifth.
  • The Blue and White had four student-athletes finish in the top eight in the shot put, with Knight leading the way in second place after posting a mark of 14.36m (47'-01.50"). O'Keefe McKinney followed in fourth with a season-best mark of 13.33m (43'-08.75"), while Stevan Bajski and Avigliano placed fifth and sixth with marks of 13.27m (43'-06.50") and 13.20m (43'-03.75"), respectively.
TOP-EIGHT FINISHERS TOP FIVE UPDATES
  • Ryan McKenna moved up one spot in the program's 400m hurdles record book after clocking a new personal best time of 54.27s. His time moves him to No. 3 all-time, surpassing Dillon Myers' time of 54.44s which was set in 2012. His time currently ranks 32nd in Division III this season.
