Records Fall at South Region, Tufts Final Qualifiers

WINCHESTER, Va. / MEDFORD, Mass. - The Washington and Lee University women's track and field team reset three program and one conference record at the South Region and Tufts Final qualifiers on Saturday.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • Olivia Warr highlighted the action on Saturday at Tufts, breaking the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and program record in the 3,000m. Warr crossed the finish line in 9:38.48, surpassing Kayla Werner's (Lynchburg) time of 9:46.68 to finish in first place. Her mark currently ranks fourth in Division III heading into the National Championships next weekend.
  • Camille Gillum and Bailey Hedgemon both surpassed their own program records in the high jump and weight throw, respectively. Gillum cleared a new personal-best height of 1.69m (5'-06.50") to claim the top spot in the event. Her mark ranks tenth in Division III ahead of next week's National Championships in Rochester, N.Y. Hedgemon posted a new personal best in the weight throw, recording a toss of 16.52m (54'-02.25"), surpassing her previous program record mark of 54'-01.00".
  • Ashley D'Ambrosia turned in a second-place finish in the pole vault at Shenandoah's final qualifier, clearing a height of 3.63m (11'-10.75").
  • Jesma Evans competed in Massachusetts this afternoon, clocking a time of 58.26s in the 400m to finish in third place.
  • Cassie Carr and Sophia Breschi both competed in the mile run at Tufts, finishing back-to-back in fifth and sixth place. Carr clocked a time of 4:57.89 to finish fifth, while Breschi crossed the finish line in 5:00.54, the second-fastest time in program history, to finish sixth.

  • The NCAA will announce their selections to the 2025 Indoor Track & Field National Championships on Sunday afternoon. The national meet will be held in Rochester, N.Y. on March 14 & 15.
